The concept of a large effective membrane area, in combination with a "standard voice coil" (26mm), and a rather soft dome material works out. Widely radiating in te top octaves, crossable very low, with high load capacity.

Full level from 1,2kHz. Extremely good-natured "roll-off". With an average of 89,5dB / 2,83V, the efficiency is rather below average. For most applications, however, completely sufficient.

Outstanding pair equality in the two measured copies both in impedance, - and amplitude response. The maximum deviation of both drivers> 500 Hertz is + -0,15dB! This testifies to an excellent production consistency.

Thanks coupling volume very low resonance frequency around 750Hz. The impedance peaks indicate a dose of low-viscosity ferrofluid. Their slightly different characteristics are completely meaningless, being far out of the usable range.

 Summary

The 19mm ring emitter Vifa / Peerless XT19TD00-04 (XT-200 K4) measured in the sum of its properties absolutely outstanding!

The relationship to his big brother, the XT25TG30-04 shows not only on the outside but also in all measurements. (The resourceful reader will have noticed that a few passages in the text are identical in both tests ...)

The frequency response is linearly smooth. Can be used in very level-stable combinations from 3kHz, otherwise lower. Series spread seems a foreign word for the driver. Furthermore, its intended working range is far outside the region around the resonance frequency that is prone to series fluctuations due to the design of tweeters. It is generally not recommended to separate tweeters> = 2x FR for nothing. Extremely commendable.

Due to the waveguide system-related symmetrical elevation in the frequency band of 1-10kHz. This can be easily leveled with the crossover.

The Vifa Peerless XD-270 / F4 goes perfectly with the waveguide WG-300. Very even bundling without significant disturbances. The behavior> 10kHz can be described as outstanding. 20kHz are reached even below 45 ° with an almost full level.

The amplitude response drops below 45 ° of 2-18kHz by only 2,5dB! The 30 ° curve runs to 20kHz in a + -1,5dB tight tube. 20kHz are reached at full level.

The sonogram shows a bundling behavior that comes very close to the so-called Constant Directivity.

Harmonic distortions

Vifa Peerless XD-270 / F4 (DX25BG60-04) & Waveguide WG-300 harmonic distortion

System-related exaggeration in the frequency band of 1-7 kHz. Due to its symmetry, this can be easily equalized with the crossover. It is the purpose of a sound guide to act as an acoustic amplifier. The Vifa XT-300 (XT25TG-30/04) is an excellent match for the waveguide. Extremely even bundling without any disturbances worth mentioning. Due to the large dome (30mm voice coil), a slightly stronger directivity from 8kHz. Recommendation: plan a slight increase> 8kHz in the high frequency on axis.

Vifa / Peerless XD-270 F / 4 (DX25BG60-04) Amplitudes and Impedance (Scatter)

Very broadband. Full level from 1,1kHz. Apart from a slight dip around 8,5kHz very linear. This shows neither in the decay behavior, nor in the distortion diagram and is therefore classified as harmless. Assign you is probably the conspicuously thick bead. This is supported by the disappearance of burglary under angles.

The average efficiency is 93dB / 2,83V. Compared to 8 Ohm drivers, 3dB must be subtracted.

Both drivers behave almost congruently up to 10kHz, above that they fluctuate a maximum of + - 0,5dB, which is absolutely harmless.

The impedance paths are congruent in the area of effect.

Addendum: New measurement, now with 4 drivers.

Series dispersion seems to be hardly an issue for the XD-270 F / 4. Still practically congruent course, only in the top octave with minimal deviations (Max. + -0,5dB).

Summary

The Peerless DX25TG09-04 is in many ways an unusual tweeter. A 5mm strong front panel (identical to the XT-300), a surround that could more easily be attributed to a midrange driver, an 5 hole mount and the very low resonant frequency despite the absence of the back chamber.

The distortion values are exceptionally good and, in combination with the low resonance frequency, allow a separation of around 1,5 kHz.

Only the collapse of 8,5kHz spoils the otherwise impeccable impression a bit. Through clever wiring, however, a + -1dB linear frequency response can still be achieved.

This tweeter gets a thick recommendation

Furthermore, he seems to me in the sum of its properties to be a very interesting candidate for a waveguide. In addition more timely.

Good linearity. Full level already from 0,9kHz!

With 91,5dB / 2,83V, the efficiency is average for an 4Ohm driver and sufficient for 95% of all applications.

At 4khz there is an interference point that also shows up in the impedance response, but not in the decay behavior. With clever wiring of the Peerless XT-25 / Neo4, you can "conjure up" a 2dB dip around 3,5kHz from the cant, which is usually perceived as very pleasant. D.

The amplitude responses of the two drivers are practically congruent. Very good

Vifa / Peerless XT-25 / Neo4 (XT25SC90-04) Impedance (Scatter)

Vifa XT-25 / Neo4 (XT25SC90-04) Impedance gear

The 830Hz resonant tip of the ring radiator shows that no ferrofluid was used. A minimal disturbance can be seen in 4kHz, which also shows in the amplitude response. The impedance paths of the measured drivers are congruent. Exemplary.

K3 is extremely low up to 2kHz, below which it rises steeply. K2 rises evenly below 3kHz. However, in my opinion nothing stands in the way of a separation of around 2kHz. In combination with two 5 ″ drivers, I already disconnected at 1,7kHz and the dome copes with that without any problems. Even there, K2 hardly scratches the 1% mark. Overall really good values.

Summary

Level fixed small tweeter which is very universally applicable.

Due to the large membrane, it can be very loud and can be used from 2kHz.

Due to its "special" directional effect, the ring emitter is very well suited to be combined with a waveguide (eg WG-300 from Monacor). Then the distortion drops below 2kHz and nothing stands in the way of a separation of 1,5kHz.

Predestined is the Peerless XT-25 / Neo4 for d'appolito, - and all other arrangements in confined spaces.

To emphasize is the very small dispersion. The two measured specimens of the ring radiator are practically congruent both in amplitude and impedance.
